The excellent Cullen Sea School is open for watersports between May and October and operates out of the historic Cullen Bay Harbour about 20 minutes North of Isla Bank House. Their activities include sea kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding, coastal rowing and sailing, some of which carry you out into the edge of ocean swell where the waves block out your view of the land.
Incredibly you can even try your hand at traditional boat-building year round making this one of the most unusual attractions on our radar.
Cullen village is a beautiful historic fishing village with breathtaking views of the North Sea and the Moray Firth. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself there at supper-time then you have several excellent gastro-pubs to choose from, but one of our absolute favourite things to do is to collect a superb Fish-Supper from Linda’s Fish and Chip Bar and drive down to the beach carpark to take in the view, and occasional evening view of the Northern Lights.
